Custom Millwork Trends in Utah County Homes (2026)
What Utah County homeowners are actually asking for in custom millwork this year — mountain silhouettes, built-in bunks, feature walls, and office built-ins.

Every quarter, our millwork shop sees what Utah County homeowners are ordering. Here’s what’s landing in 2026.
1. Mountain-silhouette feature walls
Multi-layer stepped mountain-range sculptures, mounted over fireplaces or behind beds. Hand-stained pine, layered for depth, standoff-mounted so they float off the wall. PrimeWest built three of these in Q1 2026 alone.
2. Custom built-in bunk rooms
Still the most-requested millwork project by volume. Quad bunks with integrated staircases, drawers under every lower bunk, matching paint to the room, safety rails to Utah code. We’re seeing more “bunk rooms for the cousins” than ever — families who want the sleepover space when extended family visits.
3. LED-integrated headboards
Mountain-silhouette, geometric, or linear wood headboards with dimmable warm-white LEDs behind them. We router the silhouette, install the LED tape inside the wall of the headboard, wire to a bedside dimmer. Warm backlight that doubles as a reading light.
4. Home-office built-ins
Silicon Slopes shifted what home offices need to be. More of our custom millwork work in 2026 has been floor-to-ceiling office built-ins — cabinets for files, open shelving for books, a desk surface integrated into the run, hidden cord management.
5. Pantry reconfiguration with custom shelving
Not the whole kitchen — just the pantry. Custom adjustable shelves, hidden pull-outs, appliance-garage shelves, integrated baskets. A 2–3 day project that returns more daily quality-of-life than remodels that cost 20x more.
6. Floating fireplace surrounds
Wood-wrapped fireplace surrounds, often stained to match the home’s hardwood flooring, integrated with built-in media shelves on either side.
